  • 10/1/2012 – According to Variety, Danny Strong, will write the screenplays for Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2.
  • 10/1/2012 – According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danny Strong beat out a host of writers for the gig, including Cabin in the Woods and Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard; Vanessa Taylor, a writer and co-exec producer on Game of Thrones; and Argo scribe Chris Terrio.
  • 10/16/2012 – Elizabeth Banks confirmed on her website that Danny Strong would write the Mockingjay scripts.
  • 2/15/2013 – Danny Strong has the go ahead to write the Mockingjay Part 2 script, based on Lionsgate liking the Part 1 script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

  • 7/17/2012 – According to IndieWire, Lionsgate is already looking at directors for Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2.
  • 11/1/2012 – According to Collider, Francis Lawrence is set to direct Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2.
  • 11/1/2012 – Lionsgate confirmed that Francis Lawrence will return to direct Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2.

Filming/Release Date

  • 7/10/2012 – Lionsgate announced that Mockingjay Part 2 will be released on November 20, 2015.
  • 8/10/2012 – Lionsgate confirmed that Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 will film back-to-back.
  • 4/7/2013 – According to Production Weekly, Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 will begin filming September 16, 2013 with shooting locations in Atlanta and Boston.
  • 4/13/2013 – According to Production Weekly, Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 will film until May 20, 2014, with Los Angeles added as an additional filming location.
  • 9/22/2013 – Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth began filming Mockingjay in the Atlanta area on September 21st.
  • 9/25/2013 – According to DawsonNews.com, Mockingjay filmed in Dawson County on September 26th.
  • 11/13/2012 – Jennifer Lawrence told Prosieben that filming would take place in Paris and Berlin.
  • 11/19/2013 – Francis Lawrence told The Hollywood Reporter that filming resumes after Thanksgiving and continues till December 20th. After a break for Christmas, they film for three more months in Atlanta and two months in Europe, mostly in order of the book.
